Frequently asked questions

How do I connect to Wi-Fi with a QR code?

Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code. A notification appears with the network name; tap it to join. On some Android phones, use the QR scanner in the Wi-Fi settings or Google Lens.

Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?

The password is stored in the QR code itself, so anyone who can scan the code can join your network. For homes and businesses, it is best to use a separate guest network for the QR code. This tool never uploads your password.

Will the QR code stop working?

No. The network details are inside the code, so it works as long as your network name and password stay the same. If you change the password, create a new QR code.

Which security type should I choose?

Choose WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost all modern routers. Choose WEP only for very old routers, and 'No password' for open networks. You can check this in your router or phone's Wi-Fi settings.

Does it work for hidden networks?

Yes. Tick 'Hidden network' so phones know to connect even though the network doesn't appear in the Wi-Fi list.
